At St David’s we value highly our Church – School links. In recognition of this we were awarded a Leading Aspect Award in 2005.
Our children have many opportunities to visit the Church throughout the school year: for worship; to support the RE Curriculum; and to enhance and support other curriculum areas including History and Geography.
As a whole school we come together to worship in Church every Wednesday, with a service led by Rev. Simon. This setting is also used for many larger celebrations and musical productions to which the whole community come together.
However our links go beyond this and members of St David’s Church frequently join us in school to worship with us and work alongside the children.
Additionally, over many years, St David’s Mothers Union has supported our school in developing the children’s spiritual, moral and cultural awareness. As frequent visitors to our school, they bring their own talents to enhance the provision and the lives of our pupils. These talents range from baking, craft sessions, flower arranging; as well as supporting fund raising events and facilitating coffee mornings for our parents.
Further recognition of this relationship was given when St David’s Mothers Union won the ‘MU Project Showcase Award’ in 2004 for their work in our school.
